#UsOpenFinal: Naomi Osaka Becomes First Japan-Born Woman To Win Grand Slam After Defeating Serena Williams

There is no doubt Serena Williams is a legend on and off the tennis court after her contributions and number of trophies accumulated over the years. Her quest to add extra US Open trophy to her already existing collections failed as she was defeated by Japan-born, Naomi Osaka in the Finals.

The 20-year old part Japanese, American and Haitian, has therefore broken a lot of records in Japan and Haiti for becoming the first woman to fetch such a coveted trophy at her age.

Serena William was penalised for her outburst during the game and code violation which allowed Osaka to win the game at 6-2 6-4 in New York.

After the game, Serena Williams, 36, didn’t shake hands with the umpire Carlos Ramos, but, congratulated Osaka on her victory.
