There’s a rapid running joke that – a year without a Stonebwoy’s project is tantamount to one without Christmas. Wholesome turn to identity to ignite a buzz in the world is clearly what the Ghanaian scribbler envisioned and delivered on ANLOGA JUNCTION.
In the era where African entertainment creatives are painting a vivid picture of the continent to the world after several years of wailing and waiting. A revisitation of sounds made from the continent classified as Afrobeat, highlife, to mention but just a little, were emitted in plumpness. Hence, the global audience gave ears to Africa, leading to prominent and large representation and a seat at prestigious awards ceremonies like Grammys, others.
Stonebwoy’s ANLOGA JUNCTION is the experimentation of several genres and headway attempt from the Ghanaian who has taken time to the practical study of all the aforementioned genres. Therefore, making the end result so easy – but truth be told it isn’t as it appeared. On the album, Stonebwoy moved from Afrobeat, Dancehall, highlife and even reggae while clenching to his heritage just a signature for music lovers consuming the album to calmy know its origin.
His previous album in 2017 – Epistles Of Mama, brought global musicians to Ghana. But, this time, he took Ghana entirely to the world. With fewer features, ANLOGA JUNCTION, even some of those who joined boat with him were coerced and assisted to sing lines in Stonebwoy’s dialect (Ewe) – Keri Hilson evinced that on Nominate – track eight on the album. He recruited legendary highlife maestro Kojo Antwi on Nkuto – track five. Let’s not forget the legend barely does features and he is mindful of whose project he hops on.
Other features included Jahmiel on Motion – track thirteen, Alicai Harley on Understand – track ten, the Chivv and Spanker on GoodMorning – track fourteen. He made a quick return to Africa and tapped Nasty C, Zlatan, Diamond Platinumz on different mellifluous and rhythmic tour de force off the album. His expansion to touch the world wasn’t done to utterly mimic sounds already out there, but rather sticking to his root. He invited the world to dinner and served everyone a piece of his own repast.
Conversations have heightened strongly on social media after starving fans for a few years, they have nodded to the album labelling it – one of the best to come out of Africa in recent times.
